We believe that food brings people together. That’s why our Art of Cooking class this May is all about “Flavors of Family”. It is a month long series of cooking sessions where children create warm, comforting dishes inspired by homemade favorites.
Whether your child is new to cooking or already loves helping out in the kitchen, this after-school program gives them the chance to learn, create and connect through food. Plus, they’ll bring home their finished dish to share with the whole family!
1. May Cooking Class Menu: A Taste of Home Every Friday
Each Friday in May, children will explore new ingredients, learn basic cooking skills and prepare a heartwarming dish that reminds us of family dinners. Here’s what’s on the menu:
May 9th: Pizza Spaghetti Casserole
A fun twist on two family classics! Kids will layer spaghetti noodles, tomato sauce, cheese and pepperoni to create a deliciously gooey casserole that’s part pizza, part pasta and 100% kid approved.
May 16th: Portobello Nirvana
A hearty vegetarian dish featuring roasted portobello mushrooms with savory stuffing. This dish introduces kids to the rich, umami flavor of mushrooms and plant-based cooking in a fun and hands on way.
May 23rd: Cowboy Pie
Inspired by rustic American comfort food, Cowboy Pie is a savory layered bake with ground meat, mashed potatoes, and vegetables. It’s like a warm hug in every bite!
May 30th: Chicken Stroganoff
This creamy, comforting dish features tender chicken in a rich mushroom sauce served over pasta. It’s a classic dinner recipe that teaches kids about balance in flavor and texture.
